On top of the Dedica sits bare chrome, in front of it stands the drip tray in the honeycomb pattern. This rest carries the pattern upwards, so the machine reads the same from top to bottom. It rests loosely on top and lifts off for cleaning.

The Pattern

The same handwriting, top and bottom.

If you have the honeycomb drip tray standing in front of the machine, the top is still bare chrome. The rest closes that gap: the same hexagonal grid, the same matte surface, the same build.

That is the entire purpose of the piece. It doesn't make the machine faster or the espresso better, it makes the machine look like one piece instead of a machine with accessories.

The Edge

The holder doesn't sit beside it, it belongs to it.

There are two cut-outs on the left edge. They are made for the magnetic portafilter holder, which fits in right beside the rest instead of standing next to it as a second part.

If you want both, take the 2-piece set: rest and holder come together there, and it costs less than both pieces separately.

Does the cup rest fit my Dedica?

The EC685, the EC785 and the EC885. The contour is designed for the top plate of these models and follows the curve of the housing, it is not a trimmed universal part. Not the EC890 Dedica Duo: it has a display on top and therefore a different plate.

What do I get out of it?

Honest answer: it looks good. It carries the pattern of the drip tray upwards, so the machine matches top and bottom, and it replaces bare chrome with a matte surface.

What it explicitly is not: a heat shield, a scratch guard or a mount. If you don't care about the look, you don't need it.

Does it leave marks on the chrome?

No. The cup rest simply rests on top. Lift it off to clean, then put it back. Nothing is left behind on the chrome.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

No. Wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it briefly under cold water. The body is made of PLA and is not dishwasher-safe.

Is it also available together with the portafilter holder?

Yes, as the 2-piece combo. There, the cup rest has a matching cut-out for the holder, and the set costs less than both pieces bought separately.
