The Dedica's top plate is chrome-plated, and every cup you set down leaves fine scratches on it over time. The cup rest, or cup holder, lays a matte black honeycomb surface in between. It simply rests on top, nothing is glued or mounted.

  • Protects the chrome-plated top plate from scratches.
  • The open honeycomb structure lets the cup warmer's heat through.
  • The honeycomb gives grip: cups stop sliding around on the smooth chrome.
  • The contour follows the curve of the Dedica's housing, not a trimmed universal part.
  • Just lay it on. No glue, no residue, lift it off to clean.

The Protection

The chrome stays the way it was on day one.

The Dedica's top plate is chrome-plated and therefore delicate. Every cup, every portafilter set down for a moment pulls fine scratches into it over time, and those don't come out again.

The cup rest takes that contact instead. It sits loose on the plate and lifts off for cleaning, with nothing to undo.

The Heat

The cup warmer stays a cup warmer.

A solid plate would cover the cup warmer. The honeycomb is open, and the heat rises through it to the cup. Entirely unimpeded it is not: one more layer between hot plate and cup costs something, but the cups still get noticeably warm.

The honeycomb also gives grip. On smooth chrome, cups slide. On the structure, they stand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answered briefly.

Does the cup rest fit my Dedica?

The EC685, the EC785 and the EC885. The contour is designed for the top plate of these models and follows the curve of the housing, it is not a trimmed universal part. Not the EC890 Dedica Duo: it has a display on top and therefore a different plate.

Does it slow the cup warmer down?

A little, yes. The honeycomb is open and lets the heat through, but a layer between hot plate and cup costs some transfer. The cups still get noticeably warm.

Do I have to glue or mount anything?

No. The cup rest simply rests on top. Lift it off to clean, then put it back. Nothing is left behind on the chrome.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

No. Wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it briefly under cold water. The body is made of PLA and is not dishwasher-safe.

Is it also available together with the portafilter holder?

Yes, as the 2-piece combo. There, the cup rest has a matching cut-out for the holder, and the set costs less than both pieces bought separately.
